Jade Zahreddine

Senator Bill Raggio took office 14 years before his challenger was even born. After a narrow win against Sharron Angle, Senator Raggio is now focusing on the general election and so is 22-year-old Jade Zahreddine.

It's not everyday you see a 22-year-old running for State Senate. Jade Zahreddine says, "my generation needs to get involved in the political process. There are so many people in my generation that are apathetic and just don't care."

This young Democrat is a host at a local casino and a recent graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno. Zahreddine shakes thousands of hands hoping to make a name for himself, if not for this election, at least for 2012.

Zahreddine says, "there's a lot of adversity to run in District 3. A lot of Democrats support Raggio I can't count on my own base."

While Zahreddine sweats it out, Raggio simply points out his experience to prove why he should serve one last term. He showed Channel 2 the several pictures on his walls of former presidents and political leaders that he's met through the years. "I don't like to toot my own horn but I've been effective in preserving the interest of northern Nevada through a lot of years."

We tried to contact Gary Feero, an Independent American who is also running for the Senate District 3 seat, but he did not return our calls.
